They are not yet available in the USA, but there is a type of mini washing machine that washes, sterilizes and disinfects using boiling water. It’s an “old-school” laundry technique wrapped up in a stylish new age design. It touches upon a new topic, that is many people these days are using cold water to wash clothes, in an attempt to reduce their carbon footprint and save money. However while we are all for this approach, the laws of science don’t care. Water below a given temperature won’t kill certain bacteria and other organisms.
We’d love to see broader adaption of solar hot water heaters, so that people can wash with hot water when necessary, without polluting or raising their monthly utility bill.
